The waterfalls route is one of the most popular options for tourists visiting Samari Spa Resort and Baños de Agua Santa, either in their own vehicle or by bicycle, the latter being the most popular, as the experience will be different and you will go at your own pace.
The first point of attraction you will find is the Agoyán Dam, built between 1980 and 1986, in front of which you will find the entrance to the Sendero los Contrabandistas (Smugglers' Trail). It is 6km long, so called because in around 1950, liquor was traded illegally to take it to the Amazon.
The second point, is the Agoyán Waterfall, the place gives the options to carry out activities such as canopy, tarabitas and swings; from here you will cross through 4 tunnels, in this route it is recommended to go at a moderate pace because you will share the road with other vehicles, from the second tunnel you have a road only for cyclists. In this route you will find several small waterfalls, such as the Puerta del Cielo waterfall; the next point is Rio Blanco, an adrenaline sector, giving you the option to do the bridge jump, canopy, tarabitas, Tibetan bridge and a 360º swing.
The Manto de la Novia waterfall is the next stop, its name is due to the shape of the waterfall and its similarity to the mantle or veil worn by brides, there is also the opportunity to cross the tarabita, go hiking and visit its swing, besides this, it is the ideal place to take pictures and admire the landscape.
Small waterfalls such as San Jorge and the Inca, are present on the route, to finally reach the Pailon del Diablo, this is considered one of the most recognized attractions of the city of Baños, its name is due to the natural formation in the rock, which resembles the image of the devil, is composed of rocks of volcanic origin, and for its descent requires a small hike.
This entire route is 17km long and takes around 2 to 3 hours, this will depend mostly on the time you take at each stop and the pace you keep on your journey.
